Every year on 18th July, South Africans and people around the world celebrate “Nelson Mandela Day”. This special day honours the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela. It is a day to remember his values – kindness, forgiveness, unity, and the fight for justice and equality.

Mandela once said, “What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others.” On this day, people are encouraged to spend “67 minutes” doing something good for others – a tribute to the 67 years he spent fighting for freedom and human rights.

But honouring Mandela’s memory is not just about one day of service. It’s also about making “positive life choices” every day. South African youth can truly honour Mandela by “saying no to drugs” and choosing a path of health, education, and purpose.

Drugs destroy lives, dreams, and communities. Mandela believed in the power of young people to change the world. By staying away from drugs, today’s youth can build a brighter future, not only for themselves but for the entire country.

Let us make Mandela proud. Let us choose peace over violence, hope over despair, and healthy choices over harmful ones.

This Nelson Mandela Day, stand tall and say: “Not me. Not now. Not ever.” Say no to drugs, uplift your community, and be the change Mandela dreamed of. Join the movement—live his legacy every day!
